Gosling scored the only goal of the match at the 84th minute.
This is the fourth defeat in Chelsea’s last five matches in the Premier League, making their fourth position even more threatened. Frank Lampard’s army lacked acumen in attack. Despite holding the ball 66%, they did not put enough pressure on the Bournemouth goal at any time. The visitors, inspired by midfielder Ryan Fraser, played a focused and effective match.
The only goal of the match until the second half is about six minutes official. After the ball bounced off a corner, Jefferson Lerma returned to the Chelsea penalty area. The home side’s defense rose to trap offside with Philip Billing, but let Dan Gosling tape down.
Taking the ball back to goal and the keeper Kepa was close behind, Gosling flicked the ball back. After being supported by VAR, the referee determined Gosling was not offside and the ball crossed the line, though Cesar Azpilicueta returned to make a clearance. Chelsea could not equalize in the remaining time remaining and had to accept defeat.
The most disappointing Chelsea side in the first half was Christian Pulisic. American players lost in the ball up of the home team. With the wings ineffective, coach Frank Lampard replaced Pulisic and Willian when the second half passed only 15 minutes. He replaced Callum Hudson Odoi and Mateo Kovacic.
But these changes did not help Chelsea have a better position. In contrast, Bournemouth has a dangerous ball. It was thanks to the precise saves of two defenders Kurt Zouma and Antonio Rudiger, the home team only prevented dangerous cross-strikes from the visitors. The speed and technique of Fraser makes the Bournemouth left wing always dangerous.
This loss does not make Chelsea fall out of the top 4. But they will be increased by the team above and isolated by the rear teams. Lampard will clearly have to calculate the force to add in January 2020, after Chelsea has reduced the transfer ban.
